About your redirection.

Postby westside » Sat Mar 12, 2005 5:16 am

First i'd like to take you very much for bringing these scripts and site alive!! :D

Now im having a problem, my site is www.z-r.us and its a redirection site.
But when i go on it says :
"Redirection Limit for this url exceeded. Unable to load the requested page. This may be caused by cookies that are blocked."

It appears for me, its in a message box, but my friends says that they cant see the box that pop-ups and that nothing appears.

When i set the main page to "myred/register.php" it works good when i go on www.z-r.us but when i register a domain (something.z-r.us) and set it up for the redirection it doesint work, it says that the url is invalid.

Please help!

Thanks

Rodney

(Im host by ecwhost.com and i got a cpanel,whm,MySQL,DNS. So i guess i got everything i need,just making sure :) )

make sure if u've put on ur site configutration that ur main page is /myred/register.php and not just register.php .. thats ur default page and on evry wron url, it tries to go to register.php.. now since this page itself a wrong url, it keeps running the redirection again and again.. infinite times..

just check if u've put index.php on root and register.php on /myred and that u've put proper path on ur configuration..

Yes.. The index.php page will decide.. if u r goin to subdomain, it'll go to the relevant redirected page.. else index.php will redirect to main page (in ur case myred/register.php)

i guess its working fine now..

to go to ur site config:

www.z-r.us/myred/admin.php

Thanks i've fixed the problem (http://www.z-r.us)Now theres only one more problem, the sign ups are good, but the last problem is, when someone makes an account it redirects to my host (ecwhost.com) even though the tarket url is something else. Even if you put anything.z-r.us it will redirect to ecwhost.com even though the domain isn't registered..

And what i'll like to know too is what should be put into the zone file for the domain to redirect from?

as at the moment I added "* IN CNAME z-r.us."

Hope someone can help.

Thanks alot

In the dns zone you need to put *.A Record. IP Addy

Your host will also have to add your domain as a virtual server in the httpd.conf file.

Its been covered loads of times as this is 99.9% of the problems people have with it not working, do a quick search on the forum if your host cant sort it.

I had similar prob.. the thing is, your host has set up wildcard, in such a way that on every wrong url its goes to ecwhosts' home page.. My hosts changed some configuration for me that it started working.. even now, if i make any change in web config, i need to ask my hosts to manually enable wildcard again.. I guess ur prob mite be the same..
