hi,
sorry for my bad english
that´s the problem: I have some friends who have personal pages at free hosts (kind of geocities)
they would like to passord protect some of their pages on a system a little bit more effective than just use javascript.
my 'solution': uses your redirection system as a password protect page system
How?
well, I don´t know if it can works this way.
let me try to explain.
A user can create a subdomain just like they do today.
they could also assign a KEY to this page. It involves, of course, create a new field in data base.
a key it was jus a password for that specific page.
a example:
I own the redirection service and have www.domain.com
john is my friend and have a page on www.samedomain.com/user/john.html
john create john.domain.com and assigns a key to this page like 1234
a visitant try to acess john.domain.com
since it has a KEY to inform, system redirect visitant to www.domain.com/login.php and prompt for the key
if visitant type the right key, visitant was redirect to john's page on the freehost
If not, visitant goes to wrongpage.html
that´s it.
yes I no, people can just acess the page and bookmark it.
but, as I say it was something a little bit more effective than javascrit.
Can somebody just say if it teorically will works?
thanks for read this.
zeca.
