Always goes to the same page

It's not difficult to install myLounge Redirection, but sometimes it's quite tricky. Post your questions in here.

Always goes to the same page

Hello and thanks to read this message.
First of all...

PHP Version 4.3.4
MySQL version 4.0.15
Apache version 1.3.29 (Unix)
Domain: mundopc.net
Installed on: http://mundopc.net/myred

My domain service provider actived wildcard dns and now, when someone writes something like asdfg.mundopc.net, system show the following:

There is no website configured at this address.

It seems ok... I installed MyLounge correctly without any errors. Then, I enter like an user and register a news domain name to verify that's all works good. Receive e-mail with username and password, ... active domain in admin panel, but when I try to enter into the new domain that I have just registered the same page of error appears again:

There is no website configured at this address.

If you enter to admin control panel, you can see the following when click on "List All Members":

pedro.mundopc.net (Edit member - Delete member)
1 members in your redirection service

This subdomain name is now active if you want to see the effect. You can (of course) to http://mundopc.net/myred and do a "Whois" to "pedro.mundopc.net.

Well, If you need more information or anything more, please, tell me.
Thanks again for your help.

Best Regards.
Fernando.
Fernando

There are a few entries here, how to configure cpanel - please search for them.

Fernando, it seems that dns wildcard is enabled but not in root. Tell your hosting provider to put dns wildcard in root of your site.

Fernando,

I am afraid you will need a static / dedicated IP address from your webhost. MyLounge does not work with shared IPs or at least I could not make it work.

The "There is no webpage configured" error is exactly what you will get if wildcard DNS setting is enabled but your web is hosted on a shared IP address.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for your answers. As said "Someone" problem was that wilcard were enabled but not in root. When my hosting administrator did it, all works correctly.
I hope this solution will be useful to other people! :).

Bye!

works on mine i use a shared ip

But to use myred on a host that runs cpanel you need to do the following

Right for all cpanel users to have the wildcard dns working you need

httpd.conf requires *.domain.com for a serveralias

The domain's zone file: * as an A entry.

The httpd.conf file can only be changed by server admin/owner

The dns zone you can change if you have access to web host manager

Scoobs,

I've found that after I wrote my post :) I have full root access so I could add the ServerAlias entry myself.
