drop down menus not working properly....

Postby webmonsoon » Thu Jan 30, 2003 3:33 am

I just installed the redirection software, and it all went fairly well except for one thing. the drop down menu that should include my domian name (webmonsoon.com) during like signup, whois, member pages, shows nothing. its just blank. thus, it doesnt seem to work properly.

i can only think of 2 errors that might cause this. 1. when i was installing it, there was always one php error (something about mysql_array being invalid function or something, i dont quite remember.)

the other thing is that i had to not use the .htacess file. When i had uploaded, it caused none of my pages to work, and display 500 (i think) errors. but, i looked at it, and it only appears to be storing like error page urls.

another problem might just be my host not letting me do anything with subdomains.

if you can help, thanks. if not, thanks anyways

yeah, i just read the sticky post, so ill give more details.

an example of the dropdown not working properly: http://webmonsoon.com/myred/signup.php

my host:
http://www.hostonce.com

php:
i think its installed, not part of cgi

version:
up to date (i believe its the newest one, whatever the number is, or maybe only a few .001s behind). If its really necessary i could run php_info and find out, but i dont think its vital

clearing things up

Postby webmonsoon » Thu Jan 30, 2003 4:24 am

oh yeah, to make sure theres no confusion. when i said that about the .htacess file not being imporant, i was sort of generalizing. there is already one somewhere on my server, the host just hides it from me. apparently having hte second one conflicted with it. but, your script managed to change my index page to index2.htm so it appears that there should be no problem caused by that

I have the solution: you didn't specify any domain you want to use...
You can do this in the admin area

When you go into the admin area, take the second option "Add/delete domains (tlds) for using in your service".
There you must fill in the domains you want to use (this can also be the main domain).

well....

Postby webmonsoon » Fri Jan 31, 2003 1:11 am

haha, thanks, that fixed that. but now im thinking that this wont work just cuz of how my host set up my account. for example:

http://testing.webmonsoon.com/

is a subdomain i set up for redirection just for testing purposes, but if you put in any random subdomain youll see the same thing, oh well. im guessing thers nothing i can do

This seems to be a server misconfiguration. Do you really have enabled wildcards?
