troubles with script

Postby Spark » Thu Apr 22, 2004 8:25 pm

Hi to all

I saw this wonderfull script in a site and i like it very much. So i decided to use it in my own site.

I told my hostmaster to do all about the wildcards and he did it. Wildcards are ok in web root.

Because i allready have an index.php in root, i renamed the index.php from the script to main.php and the line from htaccess to
ErrorDocument 404 /main.php
DirectoryIndex main.php

And from admin panel of the script, in "real" page it says in configuration i put my index.php .

So, i hope all are ok, uh?

I put category and domain in script's admin and i made a test subdomain. I took every mail for this, i enabled it via admin BUT instead of going to the page i pointed, it goes me to a CPanel page.

Did i do anything wrong? Any help would be appreciated!

ps) many congraculations to the creator of this script.

In short: never touch my index.php :)
Without it, my scripts won't run. Rename yours instead. And the problem with the wrong redirection seems to be caused by incorrect DNS settings.

Hi andelal ,

i was thinking of that, and i did that you said.

I tried to put your index in root with your htaccess file, and i renamed my index.php to main.php and the "real" page from script's admin to main.php.

But it stills not doing the redirection.

So, you think the problem caused by incorrect wildcards dns settings. My hostmaster told me that he did as it coulb be, maybe he didn't do correct.

Because there are many posts in forum about wildcards dns settings and i don't know who are the right, can you point me in the correct post, or tell me again please every thing that a hostmaster have to do so wildcards dns to work ok?

Thank you very much, i appreciate every help :)

There a few steps to do:

1. Edit your DNS zone, and add "*" , pointing to you server's IP.
2. In httpd.conf, add the alias: *.yourdomain.com
3. Add yourdomain.com in yourdomain.com/myred/admin.php
4. Have fun :-)
Micro$oft gives you Windows, but Linux gives you the whole house!

Ok, thanks people for help, andelal, bennington and all the others in forum.

My hostmaster did now the correct things and wildcards dns are working ok now.

The script is working ok, subdomains are created succesfully and they redirect to the right point.

But now, there is another serious problem. Every other folder i have( even there is an index.html, or index.php file inside) is indexing like a directory.
example. i have a folder named downloads. Inside i have an empty index.html and some zip files for downloading.

When i use index.php and htaccess from andelal's script this downloads folder indexing all the files, even the index.html
If i have these 2 files disabled, the folder downloads doesn't indexing.

Any idea why this is caused by? And any idea to correct this?

:(
Thanks

With a few lines of code you can do this yourself.

yes you are right, the problem is that i don't know lots of things about php coding, for that i ask for help about this.

Don't you think that is a good idea, admin to receive mail after a member changes something? So that admin not to have to check every time if the first, in registration, member's data has changed or not. just to take a mail about who made changes and what changes.

Any help about that?

Thanks :)
