Problems with subdomains

Postby Fernando » Mon Feb 23, 2004 11:13 pm

Hello!

My hosting administrator created a new entry into httpd.conf and DNS to activate wildcards, as I find in this forum:

To set wildcard dns up you need to set a server alias as *.domain.com (normally set in httpd.conf file)

And a dns record as an A name

* 14400 A ip addy

After that I installed mylounge and is working perfectly. But now, I have a huge problem with the subdomains that I had created before active mylounge.

This subdomains were created using CPanel and each subdomain had its own cgi-bin, ftp, web space. For example, I have a forum installed on:

http://www.domain.com/foro/cgi-bin/Forum.pl

and the subdomain was:

http://forum.domain.com

to enter and navigate without problems. All URL's point to forum.mundopc.net because is a real subdomain, but now, when I try to enter into this URL, always go to my Home Page.
I have other subdomains with the same problem, and, althougt I tried to delete and create again my real subdomains, there is nothing to do.

Any ideas?
Thank you very much for your help.
Fernando

Thanks to all that have been red this message. It was a problem with DNS order. If wilcards are stablished before real subdomains, this ones does not works properly, so, you need to define the DNS entry at the end.

Cya!
